This workshop will cover common senior health issues & conditions and the specific teaching tools needed to provide a safe environment for all students in the class. In the Brain Fit Yoga methodology, it incorporates the principles of yoga combined with brain healthy activities to increase memory, neuroplasticity, and overall circulation to the brain.
This program focused in four areas:
1. Breath Work
2. Gentle, Cognitive, Mindful Movements
3. Memory Movements
As the fastest grown population in America, there is a great need for compassionate & patient teachers to bring this healing art to the underserved. We will also cover the Business of Senior Yoga and discuss the different opportunities to work with this demographic in Health Care Facilities, Privates Settings, Community Organizations, and more.
Felicia Dhanani-Walsh (RYT 500) has been practicing yoga for the past 9 years and has studied yoga in India, Kripalu Yoga Center, and local schools here in Florida. She has focused her training in Yoga Therapy specializing in Senior Chair Yoga and Chronic Health Conditions. Like many, Felicia came to the mat for a release from Corporate America and discovered a new respect for her whole being and love for the practice. After her YTT training, not really knowing where to go from here, a door opened up to teach a Senior Chair Yoga Class. Quickly, Felicia discovered her passion for working with seniors and knew, these were her people she wanted to serve. Currently working in Assisted Living Facilities and Hospital Settings, Felicia has developed a program that allows teachers to be creative, playful and truly serve this community and their health needs.
